What is ClearContext® Inbox Alert for Microsoft Outlook®?
ClearContext® Inbox Alert is a Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget that displays unread Inbox messages on the desktop, allowing a preview of the message from the gadget. When used in conjunction with ClearContext it allows messages to be color-coded, sorted and filtered by priority.

What is ClearContext® for Microsoft Outlook®?
ClearContext® is a Microsoft Outlook Add-in that prioritizes and color-codes email in the Inbox based on email history, sender, message directness, etc. and provides tools for managing the email more efficiently.

Can I run Inbox Alert without installing ClearContext?
Yes, if running Outlook 2007, Inbox Alert will display unread Inbox messages without the need to run the ClearContext Outlook Add-in. Installing ClearContext will result in 10x faster message updates, lower system utilization, color-coding and priority sorting and filtering. Due to Outlook security restrictions, ClearContext must be installed to use the gadget with Outlook 2003.

What are the Inbox Alert system requirements?
Inbox Alert requires Windows Vista and Outlook 2003 or later. It supports mail access via POP or Exchange. It is recommended that ClearContext v3.1.0 or greater be installed to support the gadget, but this is not required for Outlook 2007 users.

Inbox Alert and Microsoft Outlook security issues.
Outlook 2007 engages a higher level of security on systems that do not have anti-virus software installed. Installing the ClearContext add-in will mitigate this problem, though users will still receive the error when attempting to preview messages in the gadget. Due to tighter security requirements in Outlook 2003 and earlier, ClearContext is required to use the gadget for these versions of Outlook.
